| Synopsis : | This mini art festival aims to encourage and support artists in developing ideas and exploring new directions in their practice. This year's program offers an exciting range of exhibitions and projects that look at various forms of new media practices by emerging artists from Malaysia and Southeast Asia, who have worked with new media ranging from video to installation. The program kick starts in September, featuring the Southeast Asian Video Screening, a collaborative program with regional curators that showcases creative explorations of the video and screen-based medium from Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. In October, Chang Yoong Chia's room installation, Safe House, will explore the relationship between art and museum aesthetics by mounting his artworks from his Flora and Fauna III series in a museum environment. Following that is the presentation of Lim Kok Yoong's (also known as Wing) video installation, When You're Not Your Body in November, which looks at digital video transmission as a medium that can challenge our sense of identity and selfhood. This year's BSAP ends with a Closing Potluck Party in conjunction with the launch the KL Art Map 2009. Presented by Bacardi-Martini Malaysia and Valentine Willie Fine Art. |
