| Synopsis : | This unique exhibition by Geraldine Javier and At Maculangan stages a dialogue between photography and painting. This exhibition affirms and extends upon a tradition of exchange and cross-influence. It looks at how our contemporary experience is translated into painting by Geraldine Javier and photography by At Maculangan. Both their works evince a keen insight into the cultural forces that shape the social experiences of Filipinos today. Yet, it is by positioning them together in a space that calls them into conversation with each other that issues and topics ranging from artistic representation to cultural aesthetic are fore-grounded. Geraldine Javier is one of The Philippines’ finest young painters of her generation. She took a degree in Nursing before pursuing an Arts major in 1997. Geraldine was one of the founding members of Surrounding by Waters. She is also the recipient of the Ateneo Art Awards and Thirteen Artist Awardee by the Cultural Center of the Philippines. At Maculangan trained in Fine Art is a commercial photographer in the Philippines. He is also the founder of Lomomanila. He is revered as Philippines top photographer and is also a talented filmmaker. |
