| Synopsis : | A docu-performance that investigates the position of the Wayang Kulit master puppeteer in the shifting contexts of Malaysian history, "Dua, Tiga Dalang Berlari" will present multiple versions of the "Betara Kala" story, where a bloodthirsty, child-eating giant is confronted by a dalang (master puppeteer) -- a meta-textual twist rare in traditional forms.
The performance will also explore the lives of renowned master puppeteers and fierce rivals Dollah Baju Merah and Hamzah Awang Mat, through texts culled from interviews and newspaper reports. Part of the Wayang Project, "Dua, Tiga Dalang Berlari" is directed by Mark Teh, with design by Fahmi Reza and sound by Aziz Ali. It will feature Fahmi Fadzil, Lim Chung Wei and Wong Tay Sy. |
