Synopsis : After a fully-booked 2005 season, touring theatre company Footstool Players returns with a second season of their play Runaway Bride.

The group will be performing (on weekends only) in several venues, which you can check out here.

The play is a challenge to the Church – the "Bride of Christ" – to return to her first love and true calling. It is a collection of seven sketches combining biting comic satire and poignant dramatic storytelling that highlight the maladies that subtly or blatantly affect the Church today – apathy, hypocrisy, legalism, smug self-righteousness, consumerism, complacency, compromise, idolatry, among others – and urges the Church to rethink her passion and mandate.

Featuring:

The Wedding by The Jeremiah People
McChurch by Jeff Smith and Wayne Sigler
Pharisee Boot Camp, Author unknown
The Untouchables by Steve Trott, Colin Kirton and David Lampel
Mercy General by Charles Reese
Salt and Light by Charles Reese and Colin Kirton
Love Story by Charles Reese

While Runaway Bride is particularly targeted at a Christian audience, non-Christians will still be able to identify with its many universal themes. Performance time is 65 minutes. Parental guidance is advised for some sexual references.

Come laugh, weep – and above all, think.

Directed by Colin Kirton and Jonathan Tan, and starring Ee Soon Wei, Colin Kirton, Dorothy Lee and Adrene Wong.
