After playing to rave reviews in Kuala Lumpur, picking up a total of four awards at the inaugural Cameronian Arts Awards, and fresh from a sold-out run in Singapore, Jit Murad's play returns to KL by popular demand for its "last staging for the year".

Billed as a comedy for those who like their laughs with an aftertaste, Spilt Gravy on Rice revolves around Darwis, a divorced teacher who can’t quite decide if his siblings are a blessing or a curse; Kalsom, an activist whose poems get her into trouble; Husni, a successful architect who can’t come to terms with his sexuality; Zaitun, a trophy wife and mother, and Zakaria, who prides himself on being the rebel with a cause.

To their friends, lovers, employees and an over-enthusiastic interpretive dancer, it may seem like they should have something in common – they have the same father and five different mothers. But when it’s time for their eccentric patriarch to decide who gets their childhood house, these brothers and sisters are more like enemies!
