The Fretboard Menace, the first in this Artistic Series, has its focus on the guitar, and will feature musicians Az Samad, Rithan of Deja Voodoo and Zack of Cosmic Funk Express.

Az Samad, the only solo performer featured in this series is a full-time composer-performer who focuses on writing original acoustic guitar music. Coming from a classical guitar background laid the foundation for his unique sound that is a blend of jazz, latin, pop and new age. The culmination of all his musical efforts is "Acoustic Gestures", an independently produced CD featuring 12 of his original compositions for solo acoustic guitar.

Rithan first made his big mark in 2002 when he represented Malaysia to the inaugural World Music Festival held in Kyrgyzstan. Whilst there he met Ainol, a young drummer also represeting Malaysia. The two hit it off on and this led to the establishment of the band Deja Voodoo Spells. Deja Voodoo Spells recorded their independent debut album entitled "I Am What I Am" which is a blend of blues, rock and funk. Rithan’s own endeavors have led him to play alongside renowned international musicians like Steve Vai in Suntec City Singapore, Sting in ‘Sting’s Songwriting Workshop’ and Marty Friedman of Megadeth for his Asian clinic.

Korean-born Malaysia-based Zack Kim, is a brilliant self-taught guitarist. This quirky personality who despite only recently starting to perform, has scaled great heights quickly thanks to his musical flair. He is a session player in well-known local bands like Tempered Mental, One Buck Short and Groovetank. Zack is currently working with two other musicians in a unique fusion band, Cosmic Funk Express, which plucks lines of funk and jazz to create a different genre of tunes. Zack was named the best guitarist at HELP Institute’s Battle of the Bands where Cosmic Funk Express emerged as champs.
