| Synopsis : | The opaque smoke and guitar strums of Pete Teo's Songwriters Round used to happen at the ill-lit No Black Tie; rumour has it that Evelyn Hii's jazz bar is re-opening, now with a larger wine cellar. Until then, pilgrims to the shrine of singing-songwriting find refuge in classy Alexis Ampang. Songwriters Round 16 and Songwriters Round 17 act as closing acts to KL Sing Song 2005, a conference where singer-songwriters from around the region swap tales.
Fri's performance features: Meor (music influenced by existential and Sufi thought, www.pestajiwa.net); Nityalila G Saulo (upcoming Filipino talent influenced by Joni Mitchell, Ani DiFranco and Don McLean, www.nityalila.tk); Oppie Andaresta (an Indonesian musician and television personality, with songs dealing with relationships and social issues); and Mia Palencia (husky, sultry jazz vocalist now working on her debut album, www.doubletakemusic.net). Also featuring people braving open mike. |
