| Synopsis : | Set to take place every weekend (Sat & Sun) from 16 Aug 2008 onwards, Arts & Culture @ the Podium is an initiative that is aimed at providing an avenue for homegrown artists, local handicraft vendors as well as cooks and pastry makers to showcase and sell their offerings. There's the promise of a little something for everyone, with stalls offering a wide-range of products including handmade jewelry and accessories; artworks and sketchings; handcrafted household items; novelty toys and gifts; as well as homemade food and desserts, amongst many others. Also planned in the future are Open Mic sessions, to be held every weekend. Arts & Culture @ the Podium is supported by Menara Hap Seng, the newly refurbished icon that was formerly known as MUI Plaza. The Podium is the building’s three-level lifestyle and commercial block that comes complete with cafes, restaurants, banks and specialty stores. On a monthly basis, Arts & Culture @ the Podium will also feature a dedicated event that is open to the public. For this month, a photography contest sponsored by Samsung will be held on 17 August 2008. |
