| Synopsis : | The central theme of this year’s Drum Slices concert is rhythm - one of three basic elements of music, and the most important. The young group involved in this years Drum Slices concert, Rhythm Ride, have over the past three years, grown in thought, eagerness, confidence, creativity and passion. Rhythm Ride explores rhythm through drumming with percussions, gamelan, and mirrors puppetry through drumming and the use of shadows in all its tangles. Theatrical movements and elements are also infused in and between the pieces. The fiery spirit of the young is what drives this concert. Riding on the rhythm of their youth, they are ready to share their passion, creations and dreams. Part of the proceeds from this performance will be donated to AMURT (Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team) to build 50 temporary schools, in collaboration with UNICEF (The United Nations Children’s Fund), in the cyclone hit areas of Myanmar’s Irrawady Delta. Presented by the Hands Percussion Team, and supported by HSBC in the Arts, KLPac, Photo Creator Publication and Kuan. |
