Synopsis : This exhibition brings together 22 curators, artists and arts managers from both Australia and Malaysia.

The exhibition explores notions of artists' independence in the creation of art, its dialogue presentation within contemporary society, in a comparison and sharing of each country's creative activity.

The artists featured are Zehra Ahmed, Richard Bell, Boatpeople, Sharon Chin, David Griggs, Mark Hilton, Roslisham Ismail, Helen Johnson, Vincent Leong, Liew Kung Yu, Ahmad Fuad Osman, Tim Silver, Shooshie Sulaiman, Wong Hoy Cheong, Yap Sau Bin and Yee I-Lann.

A condensed version of the show will return to Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne, Australia in May 2008.

Presented by Galeri PETRONAS, Kuala Lumpur and Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne with assistance from the Australian High Commission in Malaysia.

This event is also supported by the Australian Government, through the Australia International Cultural Council, an initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

RECOMMENDED! A promising exhibition and arts exchange event that looks at perennial questions affecting artists in both Malaysia and Australia. A good platform for discussions on how independant artists are in creating work and engaging with the wider community.
