| Synopsis : | School can be a constraint. Both teachers and pupils jointly owe their existence to this constraint. Klamm, a teacher, knows what he’s talking about. But pupils in his advanced course have rejected him, and blame him for a fellow-pupil’s suicide. This student was only one point short of getting the university entrance qualification, but Klamm withheld his grade. He is confronted by a wall of silence. He argues and defends himself, deploying derision, inducement, and threats, and increasingly reveals himself to be a disturbed personality, crushed by ambition and craving for power, leading to blind hatred and solitary violence in a system characterized by dependence and suppression. Based on German playwright Kai Hansel's clever, witty, and wicked piece, it is a powerfully eloquent monologue concerned with the constraints of institutions and traditions. Starring Indonesian theatre director, actor, and translator Wawan Sofwan, and presented by the Goethe Institute in collaboration with Pusat Kebudayaan, Universiti Malaya. The play will be performed at various venues: Studio 1, Level 1, Cultural Centre, Perdanasiswa Complex, Universiti Malaya.
