| Synopsis : | Growing up among the indigenous children of Sibu and hearing tales of headhunters and jungle myths have inspired Jack Ting’s visual language to this day. This 40 year old artist unleashed brilliantly colored canvases crawling with motifs such as feathers and indistinct silhouettes of warriors for this exhibition, which consists of 24 paintings of variable sizes done in oil. Quick and assured, Jack creates layered pictures straight out of his imagination, without prior planning so his pieces are imbued with a sense of spontaneity. There will be an art talk on Jack's works on Fri 6 June 2008, at 3pm. |
