Synopsis : "A New Beginning" is a photography exhibition of 30 silver gelatin black & white print shots in Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar and Cambodia.

The exhibition also marks a new chapter for artist Arthur Teng as a freelance photographer, after his retirement from his full-time job of a graphic designer.

Arthur Teng became seriously involved in photography in 1981. He was the first President of the Photographic Society of Petaling Jaya (PSPJ) and was also once Nikon’s Official Photographer in Malaysia, from 1988-89.

He has won a number of photography awards locally and internationally, and had represented Malaysia in international photography competitions in Thailand and Hong Kong.

Arthur enjoys turning mundane subjects into interesting photographic images. His special interest in travel photography has taken him to some interesting places in this region. He also conducts photography courses for photography enthusiasts.

He published a coffee table book, "Rustic Malaysia - A pictorial journey in 1994" and has contributed towards several coffee table books, namely "The Philippines - A journey through the archipelago"; "Wild Places and National Parks of Malaysia" and "Malaysia: Portrait of A Nation and Bridges of Putrajaya", just to name a few.

The artist will give a talk on his approaches to photography approach on Sat 14 Jun 2008 (2.30pm - 4pm).
