| Synopsis : | Offering a perceptive and intimate view of traditional performance in Kelantan, Angin is an exhibition on the five main performance traditions of Kelantan - Wayang Kulit, Dikir Barat, Main Puteri and Mak Yong.
Presented in collaboration with the PUSAKA - Centre for the Study and Documentation of Traditional Performance in Malaysia, the exhibition features photographs by Soraya Yusof Talismail and Mohd. Arif Awaluddin, taken over a period of intensive field documentation with PUSAKA in Kelantan. The photographs encompass field documentation of the various performance traditions, portraits of principal performers, glimpses of rural community life and vistas of Kelantan's interior landscape. Among the highlights of the exhibition is a sequence of portraits of the late Dalang Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollah Baju Merah), widely considered to have been this country's last great Wayang Kulit Dalang. The curator Eddin Khoo will also give a talk titled "Cultural Context of Traditional Theatre In Kelantan" on Wed, 15 Mar at 5.30pm. |
