| Synopsis : | The Astro Kirana Short Film Awards returns for the second consecutive year, calling all aspiring film makers out there to show the world what they've got! The top 10 best short films will be shown on Astro Kirana (Astro Channel 122), and will also be in the running for the Top 3 Awards. The Grand Prize winner will win RM5,000, and stand a chance to direct a full length production under a reputable production house; while the Second and Third Prize winner will win RM3,000 and RM2,000 respectively. The grand prize winner for last year’s Astro Kirana Short Film Awards was Calvin Lim Keai Boon for his Cantonese drama production - ‘Beautifool Life’; while the second and third runner-up prizes went to Chan Kean Wah for ‘Shou Ji’ and Martias Mohd Ali for ‘Hasrat’. Sub-category Awards up for grabs include the Best Art Direction, Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Videography, Best Story, Best Performance and Best Direction. Viewers can also make their voice heard by voting for their favourite short film on www.astro.com.my. Entries with the highest votes will win the Audience Award. The Astro Kirana Short Film Awards is open to aspiring Malaysian filmmakers who are 18 years old and above.
