Come and join us for a casual relaxing evening of fabulous songs presented by amazing talents coming in all shapes, sizes, colours and ages.
 
Intimate Encounters is a 60-minute showcase presented in two sets (9.30pm-10.00pm & 10.30pm-11.00pm) with piano accompaniment and/or minus-one music.
 
Dining patrons can savour the specially prepared pre-show two-course or three-course dinner that promises to titillate the taste buds. Dinner will be served from 7.00pm onwards. It includes a first drink at the show.
 
Non-dining patrons will also enjoy a first drink at the show.

Dama’s Gala Launch In Conjunction With Mothers’ Day

Join us in the cosy comfort of the Urban Lounge as we commence our Intimate Encounters with a potpourri of colourful voices from Dama’s musical productions. It’s a casual and unassuming affair, with the stars of Dama’s production setting the musical tone of our first encounter. Some faces will be familiar. Some not so familiar. And some not at all. But they all have something in common – a big heart, a beautiful soul and a lovely voice.

MAY 18th& 19th   FRIDAY & SATURDAY
with Tan Wei Han (tenor)
 
Wei Han will perform songs from Butterfly Lovers and some Western and Chinese classical songs. A First Prize winner at the National Classical Singing Competition 2001, Wei Han made a name for himself as Liang Shanbo in that Dama’s musical. His recent role included Alfredo in Co-Opera’s Australian touring production of La Traviata. Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance from Xi’an Conservatory of Music, he was awarded the Most Promising Singer at the Nissin International Competition 2002 in Tokyo. Wei Han is pursuing his Masters in Taiwan.

MAY 25th & 26th   FRIDAY & SATURDAY
with Chang Fang Chyi & Tan Yon Lynn (guest)
 
Fang Chyi will sing the songs from Dama’s sold-out musicals I Have A Date With Spring, The Moon Speaks For My Heart and In Perfect Harmony. A graduate of the University of Newcastle (Australia), Fang Chyi is an Art Director by day and a performer by night. She performed with the PLC Vocal Ensemble in New England and the New England TAS production of Jesus Christ Superstar, and came second in the New South Wales Jazz Vocal (Open) Category competition. At the Short+Sweet Festival 2010, she garnered five awards in the Theatre and Musical Theatre categories.

JUNE 1st & 2nd   FRIDAY & SATURDAY
with Evan Siau, Joshua Gui, William Koh, Sean Toh
 
These four musketeers shall swear by their “One for all, all for one” motto as they duel with songs from Dama’s In Perfect Harmony, I Have A Date With Spring and Glitz & Glamour, and sing some of their personal favourites.
 
Evan received his BA of Music in Music Theatre from the University of Tasmania, Australia and garnered numerous singing awards in Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. He represented Malaysia in the “Outstanding Overseas Chinese Students Programme 2002 in China.
 
Joshua graduated from the Australia International Conservatorium of Music, Sydney with a BA in Vocals. His musical credits include Sound of Music, CHESS - The Musical and Dreamgirls.
 
William’s maiden performance was Papageno in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. He studied vocal in Canada and participated in Messiah and Paul Bunyan. William was awarded the First Prize in King’s County Music Festival.
 
Sean is a newcomer to the musical stage and to Dama. He was the First Runner-Up in 8TV's Ultimate Power group singing competition.

JUNE 8th& 9th   FRIDAY & SATURDAY
with Phoon Sook Peng (soprano)
 
Sook Peng will enchant you with Western classical arias and musical numbers that were performed with Dama. Herinvolvement with Dama started in 1997 following the staging of Spring Kisses Lovers Tears. A graduate of Trinity College of Music, London, Sook Peng furthered her studies on opera at the Royal Conservatorium in The Hague and at the Hochschule fur Musik in Dresden. While in the Netherlands, she was associated with the Netherlands Opera and has participated in opening of Amsterdam Arena and the prestigious Prinsengracght Concert.

JUNE 15th& 16th   FRIDAY & SATURDAY
with Rachel Tan (soprano) & Liow Jun Yi (tenor)
 
Both these young vocalists are stamping their mark on the stage with their vocals and you will certainly have the opportunity to enjoy their exquisite rendition of songs from I Have A Date With Spring, The Moon Speaks For My Heart, In Perfect Harmony and their eternal favourites.
 
Rachel has just returned from England after completing her Masters in Music from Birmingham Conservatoire, England. She holds a Bachelor of Music (Hons) from UCSI University and was the First Prize winner in Dama’s National Vocal Festival Singing Competition in 2008.
 
Jun Yi is a classical trained and versatile vocalist. To date, he has garnered an impressive collection of over 100 singing awards. His credits with Dama included I Have A Date With Spring, Tales Of Old Shanghai, The Moon Speaks For My Heart and In Perfect Harmony.

JUNE 22nd& 23rd   FRIDAY & SATURDAY
with Beauty Teoh, Marian Jackson, Freida Francis
 
Size does not matter when you hear them belt out songs from In Perfect Harmony and their personal favourites. Their inner beauty comes as a package. Bubbly and somewhat shy – except for one, maybe – these three damsels have a heart of pure gold.
 
Beauty marked her debut on the theatre stage with I Have A Date With Spring. An avid performer, her portfolio included roles in movies, TV shows and series and commercials as well as short films during her university days in Taiwan.
 
Freida started as a dancer before switching over to crooning soothing rhythms and melodious harmonies. In Perfect Harmony was her first involvement with Dama.
 
A lassie from Melaka, Marian gave up her job in 2011 to participate in In Perfect Harmony. She has now fallen deeply in love ... with the performing arts, not boyfriends.

JUNE 29th& 30th   FRIDAY & SATURDAY
with Rachel Tan, Tan Soo Tze & Tan Yon Lynn
 
These three lassies have often performed in groups, but they are also solo singers in their own right. And you can see why when they sing their respective roles in Dama’s showcases. Their recent rendition of Wonder Girls’ Nobody in In Perfect Harmony set the stage alight.
 
Soo Tze was awarded The Best Singer at the International DA-AI TV Channel singing competition in Taiwan. She also won the First Prize in the Golden Frontier Competition 2009. Her vocal pursuits have led to musical performances in Singapore and Australia.
 
Yon Lynn was a member of the Penang State Symphony Orchestra and Chorus (PESSOC) and has performed with the choir at the 4th World Choir Games in Xiamen, China. She is also a member of the National Choir and is active in local musical scene.
