DescriptionThe Museum which was founded in 1998, is the only Museum of its kind to be built in the Asia Pacific region as a showcase for the arts and cultures of Islam.

IAMM is situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's tourist belt amidst the lush greenery and within walking distance to the National Mosque, Bird Park and National Planetarium.

The Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia aims to be the Custodian, Restorer, Preserver and Educator of Islamic Arts. It is a non-profit organisation protecting and preserving priceless works of art so as not to deprive our young.

With a built-up area of more than 22,000 m2 and costing over RM70 million, it houses some of the most precious and timeless work of Islamic art reflecting the achievements, aspirations and cultural conviction of one of the greatest civilisations in the history of mankind.

Apart from existing and previously acquired artefacts, exhibits in the custody of the Museum comprise of private collections that are donated, sponsored and loaned on a temporary basis. The Museum has also allocated a large conservation area for the preservation and restoration of manuscripts metal work, woodwork, stone ceramics, textiles, carpets and rugs.

The Museum is embarking on a long term plan to provide programmes and facilities relating to works on calligraphy, ceramics and woodwork to benefit all interest groups from the young to the elderly.

Entrance Fee : Adults (RM8); Visitors below 18 & Students of Higher Learning (RM4); Malaysian Senior Citizens & Students in uniform in a group of 30 & above (RM3); Children below 6 (Free)
